THE FORGOTTEN Persian Rescue & Friends wants all of our cats/kittens to receive the best loving homes possible.  In order to do this, our application process takes time.  Adopters interested in our cats/kittens are carefully screened.  Telephone interviews are conducted along with home visits.  We require a veterinary reference or at least two other references. (non relatives)

While we make a substantial effort to ensure the cats are healthy prior to placement, please understand that these  rescue cats come from unknown backgrounds and you need to be prepared for possible medical and/or behavioral issues that may arise after adoption.

Please contact us if you do have problems so we may assist you in solving situations that may arise with your newly adopted cat/kitten.

All pets owned at the present time by potential adopter, must have seen the vet within the same year of adopting a new cat/kitten from this rescue.  If you do have pets now, we look to your past vets records to determine if these pets have been seen by your vet for yearly checkups.  Past history will determine how your future pets will be cared for.

Vaccinations are determined by you and your veterinarian.

Cats/kittens must be kept indoors 100% of the time.

Cats/kittens must not be given as a gift.  The person who will have the cat/kitten under his/her care must be present , and approved, ahead of time before visiting cats.

Cats/kittens must never be used for experimentation or research.

Cats/kittens are never to be used as a mouser or barn animals.

A covered carrier is required to transport the cat/kitten from the rescue to his/her new home.

No shipping of cats/kittens

Cats/kittens must be surrendered only to THE FORGOTTEN if unable to keep him/her any longer.

All cats from this rescue, prior to adoption are:

               *   Spayed/neutered

               *    Tested for FELV/FIV

               *     Have thorough vet examination

               *     Treated for fleas/ear mites

               *      Blood work

               *      Dentals  (if needed)

               *      Microchip

               *      Deworming

Adoption fees for a healthy purebred Persian is $200.00.  This includes all of the above.  Some of these cats come to us declawed.  If you are looking for a declawed cat, please state this on your application. Otherwise, we do not allow cats/kittens from this rescue to be declawed after adoption.

We offer reduced rates for Senior Citizens and Senior Citizen cats.  Any cat over the age of 7 is considered Senior, although in reality they are not Seniors, just older cats.  Persians may live to the age of 15 or older if in good health and well care for with yearly visits to the veterinarian.

Adoption fee for "special needs" are less depending on the individual cat.
